Adult and Teen Karate
Traditional Martial Arts Builds Balance, Coordination, Power and Resiliency
Studying martial arts is a great way to feel safer, stronger, and more confident. Centerpoint’s Adult and Teen Karate classes are based on the techniques of traditional Karate, a powerful, yet fluid martial art with roots that stretch back to China’s Shaolin Temple. Our classes incorporate authentic martial arts drilling, pad work, conditioning, application, kata, weapons and meditation in a positive and empowering setting.
Karate Training involves the dynamic use of the whole body to develop coordination, balance, awareness and the basic self-defense skills.
Learn Skills and Build Confidence
The essence of Karate is expressed in basic techniques, practiced and refined until they are as graceful as they are powerful. Training includes solo exercises known as Forms or “Kata”, as well as partnered exercises and drills of every variety that emphasize practical application and effectiveness.
Traditional Karate is Built on Four Simple Components:
- Fundamental Skills: We work on the essential skills of Karate Training, basic stances to build power, and kicks, punches, blocks and other movements
- Kata: Also known as “Forms”, Kata training integrates different techniques into smooth, powerful movements
- Sparring: Controlled free-style training in which partners practice attacks, defenses and strategy
- Conditioning and Flexibility: Physical exercises to improve strength, speed, coordination and flexibility
Classes blend all four components into a challenging, fun, high energy class, and offer you a community of positive people who work together to foster discipline, confidence, fitness, and self-respect. We look forward to seeing you in the studio.
